On Thanksgiving morning in downtown Spartanburg, over 1,800 runners will start the 14th Annual Turkey Day 8K. As the first free Thanksgiving morning run in the Upstate, the Turkey Day 8K has grown tremendously since 2005 and become a Thanksgiving tradition among many residents and visitors.

About The Event

On Thanksgiving morning in downtown Spartanburg, over 1,800 runners will start the 14th Annual Turkey Day 8K. As the first free Thanksgiving morning run in the Upstate, the Turkey Day 8K has grown tremendously since 2005 and become a Thanksgiving tradition among many residents and visitors.

The rain or shine event begins at the corner of Main and Spring Street and ends at the Daniel Morgan Statue. The registration fee requires the donation of one or more healthy canned goods.

Registration begins at 7:00 am at the statue and the run will begin at 7:30 am. Custom Turkey Day socks will be given to the first 75 women and 75 men to finish. A limited number of long sleeve event t-shirts are available for $20 each.

Partners for Active Living (PAL) hosts this annual event free of charge to the community but graciously accepts donations so we can continue to work to make Spartanburg a healthier, more active place to live and grow.

This is a family friendly event, all walking and running levels welcome!!

Turkey Day 8K wavier:

The undersigned (the “Participant”) desires to participate in the Turkey Day 8K walk and/ or run (the “Event”). Partners for Active Living, the City of Spartanburg and the event sponsors welcome the Participant’s participation in the Event but require that the Participant execute this document as a condition of participation.

The Participant acknowledges that running and/or walking is inherently dangerous and assumes all risk of injury that may arise in connection with his or her participation in the Event and all activities incidental to the Event, including, but is not limited to, travel to and from the Event site. The Participant hereby releases Partners for Active Living, the City of Spartanburg and the event sponsors and their respective trustees, directors, employees and volunteers (collectively, the “Released Parties”) from any and all Liabilities, as defined below. The Participant shall indemnify and hold harmless the Released Parties from and against any and all claims, costs, expenses (including, but not limited to, attorneys’ fees), losses, damages, liabilities, and causes of action of any kind whatsoever arising out of, from, or in any way related to the Participant’s participation in the Event (collectively, the “Liabilities”). The Participant understands and agrees that the release affected by this document is and shall be effective for the duration of the entire period of time during which the Participant is taking part in the Event and related activities.

The Participant agrees to abide strictly by the instructions provided by Partners for Active Living, the City of Spartanburg and the event sponsors and its employees and agents with respect to running and walking safety and access to private property. My signature also grants permission to Partners for Active Living to distribute pictures taken during the Event to newspapers, newsletters and websites and add my email address to Partner for Active Living’s weekly email update.
